Blog Wars – Fluid Chalk Inkpads August 27, 2009

I love “Fluid Chalk” ink pads.  There’s a wide range of soft and subtle colours.  These gorgeous inkpads stamp and blend like dye inks, and dry quickly on most surfaces.

Day One – Christmas gift tags in three colourways in “Blossom Pastels”

Left: lavender and dark peony fluid chalk ink pads

Centre: ice blue and Prussian blue fluid chalk ink pads

Right: Lavender and Blue Iris fluid chalk ink pads

All the cards were made with the same tools and techniques.  First I punched a hole with the single hole punch.   I used the star bauble small 2-step stamp,  “To: and From:” mini messages and sponged around the edge of the tag.  I highlighted the design on the bauble with ice stickles.  And the finishing touch is some swirl ribbon.  Its amazing how the lavender ink (on both the right and left tags) looks different depending on the other ink it is paired with on the tag.

The Dragonfly Card – Male Cards August 20, 2009

Dragonfly card featuring vellum and the new earthtones cardstock

This card was made to enter a challenge at Craft Camp.  The base card is chestnut (with that fabulous texture) and I tore a piece of olive card and vellum and stuck them down the left hand side after edging with greens from the fluid chalk “Autumn Pastels” option pads. The dragonfly (from the Springtime set) is stamped using fluid chalk dark brown on olive card and then placed on a circle of  ”Wood Spice” card from the Castaway card pack.  The stamp “My thoughts are with you” is inked up with the fluid chalk dark brown inkpad and stamped on vellum and then edged with olive pastel fluid chalk.  The finishing touches are three copper eyelets and the copper embellishments holding the vellum down.

Featuring the "Tree friends" stamp
Get Well Soon Card

I love this stamp – and I have to say I also love my watercolour crayons.  I stamped the image with the Crafters black pigment ink pad and then embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  Then I set to colouring the image using the fine Aquash brush.  I have the set of twelve colours and by a little mixing on an acrylic block I can get all the colours I want – including the skin tone.  The base card and the card used for stamping are “oatmeal”, and I mounted the image onto black card using super tape.  The “Get Well Soon” message is stamped with one of the Mini Messages set.

Silver Dragonfly

This ATC features the stamps from the Spring Time Set.  I stamped the small and large flowers with fluid chalk inkpads.  I then applied 6mm super tape down the left hand side and then embossed the strip using silver embossing powder.  I stamped the dragonfly on a seperate piece of card, embossed it and then cut it out and mounted it with magic mount.  The final touch was a dab of ice stickles in the middle of the flowers.

March ATC Swap April 17, 2009

I belong to an online Kaszazz consultants group and each month an ATC swap is held.  (For info on what an ATC is click on the page link at the top of this blog.)

The March swap theme was “Memories”, and we were to think about the Victorian bushfire victims when creating our cards.  Below is the card I made…along with another from the swap that featured the same stamp. Mine is the one on the left.  I used “Ebony and Ivory” cardstock, Java Bazzil, dark brown fluid chalk ink pad, brown ribbon with cream stitching and copper embellishments.

Same stamp - different look and feel.

Here’s all the cards from the swap.  Its interesting to see all the different interpretations.  All the cards are made using Kaszazz products.

3D – Thursday’s Project April 16, 2009

Today I made a Christmas gift box.  I used Crimson Bazzil (4514) and embossed two stamps with silver embossing powder(10020).  The stamps I used were Bauble Border (1742LK) and Mini Messages (4109KK).  I couldn’t resist adding Rhinestones (4556) – and then I added a bow using 1/8″ organdy in white (70621).

The sides of the box are 6cm wide and the ends are 3cm long.  The box is 24cm long.  I rounded the corners of the ends with  the corner rounder punch (PSPCR02C).  I used a bone scorer (BON10029) to score all the fold lines on the wrong side before assembling the box.  And once again I used 24mm supertape (4699).

I’m setting myself a challenge for tomorrow – to come up with a 3D project which isn’t a gift box.

Wednesday’s project – 3D April 16, 2009

I made this little gift bag yesterday.  Its made from fawn Bazzil (4217) with retro punched flowers (PSM130C and PSP92C) from ivory (9358) cardstock.  The flowers are edged with dark brown fluid chalk pad – I have it in the petal point set (71532) which makes it easy to get into the centres of the flowers.  There are 6mm  rhinestones (4556) in the centre of the flowers.  The ribbon is from the castaway set (6102) – brown with aqua stitching.

Rather than using a glue, I used 24mm supertape (4699) to stick the side and bottom of the bag.  No worries about drying time, a very strong bond and no worries about buckling.  I got the template from http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/templates/ss/GiftBag_2.htm  When I make another one I’ll make sure I decorate the front – not the back LOL.  If you look closely at the photo you’ll see what I mean.

Blog wars comes to Crafty Leonie’s blog April 16, 2009

I belong to a group of Kaszazz consultants – you’ll find the links to their blogs on the left of the screen – who participate in the “Blog Wars”.  Each week a Kaszazz product or a technique is chosen and we put our thinking caps on and come up with five different projects based on the product or technique of the week.  So come back each day and see what I and my fellow participants have been up to – we hope to give you lots of inspiration!
