Distress Inks – Day 2 September 9, 2009

A birthday card – using distress inks and perfect pearls. Stamps used – happy birthday script, small Fleur-de-Lye and the scroll/flourish from the “Ebony and Ivory” set.
Blog Wars – Distress Inks – Day 1 September 8, 2009
I wasn’t looking forward to this week at first – I thought how can I come up with 5 projects using “distress ink”? And then I googled Tim Holtz and distress inks, and saw what he does with “distress inks” and “perfect pearls” – instant inspiration!

I made this card last week for my Father-in-law for Father’s Day. I used stamps from the “Love and Cherish” set and the “Ebony and Ivory” set, along with the “Happy Father’s Day” greeting stamp. I can’t remember the card I used as the base card and card for embossing the greeting – but obviously it comes from Kaszazz. The distress ink background is “Faded Jeans” and “Vintage Photo”. I followed one of Tim Holtz’s techniques for that. Then the large Fleur-de-Lye design was stamped in “Walnut Stain” and then I applied “Perfect Pearls” – “Sunflower Sparkle” over the top. The small Fleur-de-lyes are stamped in Walnut Stain. “Happy Father’s Day” was stamped in Colourbox “Copper” and embossed with clear embossing powder. Finishing touch was three copper eyelets.
Father’s Day Cards – Day 5 September 4, 2009

This is actually one of the ATCs I made for Fiona’s ATC Club swap for August. The stamp I used on the base card is from the “Ebony and Ivory Set” – I stamped it with. The greeting is embossed with “Cocoa Bean” embossing powder. The base card “Vanilla” Bazzil, and the layered cards are ”Olive” from card essentials and “Vanilla” Bazzil. I embellished the card with brown rick rack ribbon and sponged the edges with “Gold” paint dabber or “Dark Brown” fluid chalk.
Father’s Day ATCs – Day 3 September 2, 2009

I made this ATC today after watching a couple Tim Holtz videos on You Tube and his website. The base card is “Olive” from the new card essentials Earth Tones range. The “Dare to Dream” greeting is stamped on a piece of white card I distressed using “Fired Brick”. First step was to scrunch the card up tightly and then rub the inkpad directly over it. Then I spritzed it with water and ironed it dry. Another thing I learnt from the video was that you can emboss distress inks – so I embossed the greeting. I attached the greeting to a piece of “Coffee” card from the Earth Tones range. I then embellished with a split pin and turn mount from the Aged Copper collection. I stuck the turn mount down with some “Glossy Accents”.
Father’s Day ATCs – Day 2 September 2, 2009

I used two shades of blue Bazzil that Kaszazz sell – but I must admit I don’t know what the exact shades are. I rounded the corners of the base card and attached two lengths of 1/2″ Denim twill ribbon. I stamped the ribbon with the small flourish stamp. I stamped the greeting and the roman clock also using Fluid Chalk “Charcoal”. I sponged the edges of both cards with the same inkpad. I embellished the cards with gold mini round fasteners, before magic mounting the smaller card onto the bigger one.
Blog Wars – Father’s Day ATCs September 2, 2009
What a great week – as you know I love making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). Here is the card I made for Day 1.

Base card is Pomegranate (From new card essentials “Earth Tones”. A piece of “Stripes” from the “Spice” SB papers has been torn and edged with Espresso paint dabber. “Happy Father’s Day” stamped in distress ink “Walnut Stain” and edge sponged in “Peeled Paint”. Final touch is two mini aged copper safety pins.
Blog Wars – Fluid Chalk Inkpads August 27, 2009
I love “Fluid Chalk” ink pads. There’s a wide range of soft and subtle colours. These gorgeous inkpads stamp and blend like dye inks, and dry quickly on most surfaces.

Day One – Christmas gift tags in three colourways in “Blossom Pastels”
Left: lavender and dark peony fluid chalk ink pads
Centre: ice blue and Prussian blue fluid chalk ink pads
Right: Lavender and Blue Iris fluid chalk ink pads
All the cards were made with the same tools and techniques. First I punched a hole with the single hole punch. I used the star bauble small 2-step stamp, “To: and From:” mini messages and sponged around the edge of the tag. I highlighted the design on the bauble with ice stickles. And the finishing touch is some swirl ribbon. Its amazing how the lavender ink (on both the right and left tags) looks different depending on the other ink it is paired with on the tag.
The Dragonfly Card – Male Cards August 20, 2009

Dragonfly card featuring vellum and the new earthtones cardstock
This card was made to enter a challenge at Craft Camp. The base card is chestnut (with that fabulous texture) and I tore a piece of olive card and vellum and stuck them down the left hand side after edging with greens from the fluid chalk “Autumn Pastels” option pads. The dragonfly (from the Springtime set) is stamped using fluid chalk dark brown on olive card and then placed on a circle of ”Wood Spice” card from the Castaway card pack. The stamp “My thoughts are with you” is inked up with the fluid chalk dark brown inkpad and stamped on vellum and then edged with olive pastel fluid chalk. The finishing touches are three copper eyelets and the copper embellishments holding the vellum down.
ATCs for May – Embossing August 19, 2009

This ATC features the stamps from the Spring Time Set. I stamped the small and large flowers with fluid chalk inkpads. I then applied 6mm super tape down the left hand side and then embossed the strip using silver embossing powder. I stamped the dragonfly on a seperate piece of card, embossed it and then cut it out and mounted it with magic mount. The final touch was a dab of ice stickles in the middle of the flowers.

ATCs done by myself and the other nine Kaszazz consultants
